About the facilitators

Joel Gluck, MEd, RDT-BCT, CIIP-CT, RLP is a drama therapist, executive coach, theater artist, and long-time meditator. He is the creator of Insight Improvisation, a drama therapy approach integrating meditation and mindfulness with theater and psychotherapy. Joel has taught Insight Improv for over 25 years, with programs in Thailand, India, South Korea, China, and the US, for mental health professionals, educators, performing artists, and the general public. In addition to his private practice, Joel has worked with those experiencing severe mental illness as well as individuals with borderline personality disorder, using psychodrama and DBT. He has also adapted and taught meditation techniques for incarcerated individuals, corporate executives, tsunami survivors, and others. In addition to writing chapters and articles on the subject, Joel is the author of the book Insight Improvisation: Melding Meditation, Theater, and Therapy for Self-Exploration, Healing, and Empowerment, and directs the certification process for new therapists and teachers of Insight Improvisation.

Orapin Siriwilairak, OTR/L (co-facilitator, couples programs) is a US-licensed occupational therapist with more than 25 years experience working with a range of populations, including children, elders, and those experiencing traumatic injury. As a pediatric OT, Orapin's passion is working with children and families, especially low-income and immigrant families, and women experiencing the challenges of accessing support. A long-time practitioner of vipassana meditation, Orapin has studied with Ajahn Pramote and other Buddhist teachers throughout Thailand. She has translated for Insight Improvisation programs in Thailand since 2006, participated in the first Insight Improv program in India (in Kolkata in 2007) and co-taught the first-ever Insight Improv for Couples program, in Bangkok, in 2019. Orapin is originally from Thailand, where she was head of the Occupational Therapy Department in the country's largest children's hospital, located in Bangkok.

Orapin and Joel are married and live in Belmont, Massachusetts with their two children, Jasmine (14) and Micah (11).
